The Narrow Way

”Anyone who does God’s will is my brother and sister and mother.”
Mark 3:35 NLT

The narrow way, the way to salvation, is that we repent of our sins and trust in Jesus as our Lord and Saviour.

“Abide in Me says Jesus. Cling to Me. Stick fast to Me. Live the life of close and intimate communion with Me. Get nearer to Me. Roll every burden on Me. Cast your whole weight on Me. Never let go your hold on Me for a moment. Be, as it were, rooted and planted in Me. Do this and I will never fail you. I will ever abide in you.“ J. C. Ryle

It’s been suggested that rather than knowing the exact path God wants us to take, we might, instead, make sure that our heart is in the right place by following His commands. Then everything else should fall into place.

Jesus told them, “This is the only work God wants from you: Believe in the one he has sent.” (John 6:29 NLT)

“When we come to Christ, we’re no longer the most important person in the world to us; Christ is. Instead of living only for ourselves, we have a higher goal: to live for Jesus.“ Billy Graham

If we allow ourselves to be transformed by the Spirit while, at the same time, not being conformed to the world, our minds will be renewed and we can begin to know His will.

Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.“ (Romans 12:2 ESV)

We also know full well we’re to be thankful.

Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you who belong to Christ Jesus.“ (1 Thessalonians 5:18

And live honourable lives.

It is God’s will that your honourable lives should silence those ignorant people who make foolish accusations against you.“ (1 Peter 2:15 NLT)

“If my ruling disposition is self-interest, I perceive that everything that happens to me is always for or against my self-interest; if, on the other hand, my ruling disposition is obedience to God, I perceive Him to be at work for my perfecting in everything that happens to me.“ Oswald Chambers

Entrance to the kingdom of heaven is limited to those who truly, fully do the will of His Father in heaven. Examine yourselves to see if your faith is genuine.“ (2 Corinthians 13:5 NLT)

“When I hear Christians say, “I don’t do this, and I don’t do that, and I am following a set of rules,“ I immediately recognize that they know very little about the grace of God. They are trying to live the Christian life in their own strength. But Paul says, “Be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus.“ J. Vernon McGee
