He Strengthens Me

“Those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint!“
Isaiah 40:31

Our source of strength is God. When we rely on Him we’re unstoppable.

Be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power.“ (Ephesians 6:10 NLT)

“Trying to do the Lord’s work in your own strength is the most confusing, exhausting, and tedious of all work. But when you are filled with the Holy Spirit, then the ministry of Jesus just flows out of you.“ Corrie Ten Boom

If we’re strong in the Lord, we can resist sin, battle for the truth, and help those who are weak in faith.

We who are strong have an obligation to bear with the failings of the weak, and not to please ourselves. Let each of us please his neighbor for his good, to build him up. For Christ did not please himself, but as it is written, “The reproaches of those who reproached you fell on me.” (Romans 15:1-3 ESV)

We’re in a growing conflict with “the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms“ (Ephesians 6:12 NLT), therefore we’re told to “be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power“. (Ephesians 6:10 NLT)

“How is it with ourselves? This, after all, is the grand question. Are we waiting, and delaying, and hanging back under the idea that the cross is too heavy and that we can never serve Christ? Let us cast such thoughts away at once and forever. Let us believe that Christ can enable us by His Spirit to give up all and come out from the world. Let us remember that He who called Levi never changes. Let us take up the cross boldly and go forward.“ J.C. Ryle

Each time he said, “My grace is all you need. My power works best in weakness.” So now I am glad to boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ can work through me.“ (2 Corinthians 12:9 NLT)

“The truth is, it isn’t my world and it isn’t your world; we didn’t make it and we certainly didn’t make ourselves. It is God’s world: He made it and He made us, and that means we have to recognize that He is the centre and we have been created to go round Him. Until we recognize that, we are part of the problem; when we recognize it and begin to live out in our lives the plan that God has for us, we become part of the solution. That is what it means to repent, and when we do that we become part of the kingdom of God, the kingdom of heaven; it is the same thing.“ Ken Gardiner
