Acknowledge God

“In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.“
Proverbs 3:6 ESV

The Bible tells us to acknowledge God and look to Him to guide us as we navigate through life. He has a plan and a purpose for our lives. “For I know the plans I have for you,“ declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.“ (Jeremiah 29:11 NIV)

We can try to do things our way, but the Bible says to “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding.“ (Proverbs 3:5 ESV)

Even those who try to be self sufficient pray for help in times of distress. If we rely on the Lord by reading the Bible and praying daily, we’ll enjoy the blessings of an ongoing relationship with Him. When disaster strikes, our trust in the Lord will remain strong.

Jesus says, “I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.“ (John 15:5 NIV)

God uses His Word to guide and correct us. It’s the ultimate resource on how to live. It helps us cope with difficulties and navigate around problems. Sometimes it shows us how to blend those unwanted issues into our life.

Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.“ (Psalm 119:105 ESV)

Making it a habit of reading the Bible every day will help us grow in our faith. It will sustain us through the hard times. The wisdom it contains can help us deal with problems, rather than relying on our own resources.

All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God a may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.” (2 Timothy 3:16-17 NIV).

God is always present, just a prayer away. What we need to do is acknowledge Him.

The LORD himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.“ (Deuteronomy 31:8 NIV)

God has given us His Word, but we must read it, not leave it unopened in our bookshelf.

We hear advice from others on how to read the Bible. Some say to read it like a story and not get too bogged down in understanding everything. Others say to read it in a group and have conversations about the meaning of passages. Some say to re-read certain passages over and over again. Whatever method works, the important thing is to keep reading.

You’ll be amazed at how relevant the Bible is for daily living.
