His Love Above All

“But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners.”
Romans 5:8 NLT

When we use Scripture as the window to look out on our world, we can rest assured that God loves us, and He is in control.

We know how much God loves us, and we have put our trust in his love. God is love, and all who live in love live in God, and God lives in them.“ (1 John 4:16 NLT)

He has proven His love by sending Jesus to die on the cross in our place, taking our sins upon Himself, so we that could be reconciled to God.

There is no greater love than to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.“ (John 15:13 NLT)

“If I could only make men understand the real meaning of the words of the apostle John, “God is love,” I would take that single text, and go up and down the world proclaiming this glorious truth. If you can convince a man that you love him, you have won his heart. If we really make people believe that God loves them, how we should find them crowding into the kingdom of heaven! The trouble is that men think God hates them; and so they are all the time running away from Him.“ D.L. Moody

Then Christ will make his home in your hearts as you trust in him. Your roots will grow down into God’s love and keep you strong. And may you have the power to understand, as all God’s people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep his love is.“ (Ephesians 3:17-18 NLT)

When we encounter tragedy, we may panic and think that God has forgotten us. The world is a very dark place after all. We may fumble and, for a time, lose our joy and peace. However, as followers of Jesus, we must return to His Word and remember His precious promises that give us light in a dark place.

“Let us look well to our own hearts. We live in a day when false doctrines about Christ’s death abound on every side. Let us see that Christ crucified is really the foundation of our own hopes, and that Christ’s atoning death for sin is indeed the whole life of our souls.“ J.C. Ryle

Dear friends, since God loved us that much, we surely ought to love each other. No one has ever seen God. But if we love each other, God lives in us, and his love is brought to full expression in us.“ (1 John 4:11-12 NLT)

“Let us give up our work, our thoughts, our plans, ourselves, our lives, our loved ones, our influence, our all, right into His hand, and then, when we have given all over to Him, there will be nothing left for us to be troubled about, or to make trouble about.” J. Hudson Taylor
