There's an old expression, "Seeing is believing" that was first recorded in English in 1639.

It reminds us of the scene of doubting Thomas on Resurrection Sunday, when the disciples who had seen Jesus sought to persuade Thomas that the Lord had truly risen from the dead.

Thomas's famous comment started " Except I shall see...".

For Thomas, hearing from competent witnesses was not enough. He had to see Jesus himself before He would believe He really came back from the grave.

Many people seek signs today from God in order to believe in Him or even accept His existence.

Jesus had no time for sign seekers who insisted on some great sign they could see before they would accept His message. Jesus never did miracles to entertain people and prove His worth as a Messiah.

The miracles of Jesus were firstly to relieve suffering in people. Hence His healing work.

He also raised a few people from the dead to illustrate that He was the Resurrection and the Life. However, He did not go into cemeteries and empty them.

If you wish to have Jesus come into your life and deliver you from the guilt of your sins, you must trust yourself to Him first. Then He will assure you that your prayers have been heard.

The people in John 6:30 had it backwards. They wanted to see and then decide if they would believe.

Peter on the other hand—in John 6:69—had it right.

His response to Jesus was that they first believed and then gained the desired knowledge.

Hebrews 11:6 (NIV) says, "And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him."

Trust the Lord today.

Call on Him to forgive your sins for Jesus' sake.

Ask for grace to endure the trial you now face and expect that He will respond with the needed grace.

Come, and come today.
