One Puritan preacher said in a sermon, "You will either weep like Peter or you will weep like Judas."
The great man was so right!
There is a great need for people to weep tears of repentance over their sins or else they will weep eternally over their impenitence.
The most important weeping anyone can do is not weeping over their suffering in this life. Rather we need to look at the One Who suffered at Golgotha, and weep over our sins which sent Him to the cross.
We shall either be sorrowful for our sins now, or be sorrowful for them forever.
The most urgent matter that anyone can attend to is to seek the Lord while He can be found.
We must settle the matter of our need of forgiveness immediately.
Nothing is as urgent as this.
Once we have received God's forgiveness for our sins, then we may weep over our pain and suffering in this life. Then our verse will bring comfort to our sorrowful hearts.
We realize that what matters most is dealt with by a gracious God, and the pain and suffering of this life is only for a season. It will soon come to an end in the dawning of the eternal day ahead for all believers in Jesus Christ.
Have you wept like Peter for your sins? (Matthew 26:75) If so, draw strength from our verse today.
Remember that your day of eternal joy will dawn soon enough. This is the blessed promise of our loving Lord.
Come today and get the necessary grace for the day.
