Have you ever met a person who tells you the answers to all your problems? They often say something like, "No problem. Here is the answer to that." Then they proceed to try and tell you how to resolve what troubles you. They seem to have all the answers.
I have a saying concerning those who know all the answers to the complex problems of life. Those with all the answers have not heard all the questions.
Those who have been through great trouble are painfully aware that they do not have all the answers nor do they have all the resources to effectively deal with life's alternatives.
But, What about Jesus? When we struggle in life we hear the words of Jesus in our text. Jesus claims to be able to help us with all the pain and suffering we have. He makes a grand claim to be totally adequate for people in need. What an incredible thing to say about yourself!
Many times through the years as I have listened to some poor soul tell me of their affliction, I pray to God to give me answers, some word of comfort, some light to shed in a dark place. I know that I am inadequate to help the person and I desperately need a word from the Lord.
So, as the problem is explained, I am seeking to remember some person in the Bible with a similar issue in life. Or else I seek to recall how Jesus dealt with a similar problem in someone's situation. In other words I use the Bible as a flashlight to shine on the person's dark pathway.
What about Jesus? Have you heard His incredible claim to comfort and strengthen those who struggle with life? He says, "Come to Me ALL of you who are ready to collapse under life's burdens...".
Why not turn to Him today and confess that life is too much for you? Remember our devotionals that showed how compassionate Jesus really is? Do not be afraid, do not be hesitant, do not linger at a distance. Run to Him, rest in Him, lay your burden down before Him and ask Him to carry it for you.
Over and over we read in Scripture of how Jesus was "moved with compassion" at the sight of suffering. For example see, Matthew 9:36; Matthew 14:14; Matthew 15:32; Matthew 20:34. What greater evidence do you need to turn you from your bankrupt resources to the infinite treasures of His love, grave and mercy.
What about Jesus? Jesus is ready. Jesus is willing. Jesus is able. Come and come today.
